A two Day"Training workshop on scientific management of fish culture in traai region" from 9th to 10th March 2019 at Sitarganj Uttarakhand
A Two days "Training workshop on scientific management of fish culture in traai region" was organized by the DCFR-Bhimtal at Khatima, Udhamsinghnagar, Uttarkhand from 9th to 10th March2019.
Under TSP activities The programme was organized to provide technical information regarding fish farming in traai region and its impact for sustainability of livelihood. The participation was of more than 120 tribal farmers including some progressive fish farmers, scientists and other technical staff of DCFR and made the event a grand success.
In the welcome address Dr Debajit Sarma (Director) welcomed Chief guests, dignitaries and farmer. Director DCFR voiced an overview about the mandate of DCFR and elaborated the objectives and need of the day to doubling income of tribal farmers and requested to our representatives, planer, scientist and farmer to join hands together for blue revolution towards doubling the income of farmer.
Dr R.S.Patiyal (Principal scientist) Nodal officer Tribal Sub Plan elaborated about the TSP programms and work done so far in taraai region also briefed about the success stories of farmers and emphasized on role of fish farming in sustainability of livelihood and its impact on socio-economic status of the population.
The Cheif Guest Shri Pushkar singh Dhami Member of Legislative assembly Khatima, Uttrakhand inaugurated the Exhibition on fish culture in Traai region . Shri dhamiji welcomed DCFR team for their initiative of doubling farmers income through scientific intervention demonstration, training, exposure and provide necessary inputs.
The Guest of Honour Dr. Prem singh rana Member of Legislative assembly Nanakmatta, Uttrakhand appreciated the efforts made on field level like demonstration of fish culture by DCFR, such type of demo and introduction of ornamental fish culture ne initiatives will definitely motivate the farmers to adopt the practices .
The Special guest Smt. Poonam Rana Member Zila Panchayat emphasized the involvement of more woman's in this Endeavour.
During the programm 3 progressive farmers shri Devendra rana ,sitargnj for ornamental fish culture, Shri Laxman Singh ,Khatima, and Omprkash singh Rana Sitarganj for carp culture was honored giving Appreciation Award.
During the programme Training manual on "Traai Shetro Mai Matsy paalan edited by Dr. R.S.Patiyal et. al. was released by Chief guest.
After inaugural session, Dr Suraish Chandra ( Principal scientist) provide technical information regarding the control and mitigation of common fish diseases in Indian major carp culture. Dr N.N panday (Principal Scientist) provide necessary information regarding the polyculture of fish farming.
The programmer was concluded with the distribution of seed, feed and nets etc. Total 1500 kg feed, 8000 good quality of carp fingerling 15 nets, 15 handnets.

In second day field visit and demonstration on various aspects like feeding, Netting, plankton assessment, fish handling, feed preparation pond manuring and management was organized in the Pond of Mole singh at village Sitarganj.
